You heard it right: Barbie and Ken, the adorable sun-kissed couple who have been wooing each other for 43 long years, have decided to call it quits. Sources say the split was amicable, and the blond duo will remain friends.
In all seriousness, the announcement of their breakup was prompted by the fact that Mattel is launching the Cali (read: California) Girl Barbie, a new fashion doll that will be sporting board shorts, a bikini top, metal hoop earrings and a deeper tan, which will help her better reflect her new single status.
So why the sudden breakup? It may be due to Ken’s seemingly reluctance to pop the question, or the fact that Barbie is much too career oriented to have time for flimsy romances. Whatever the reason, we wish them both luck in the single world.
