Do you believe in magic? If so, Fiesta Toys (ToyShow Preview)
has a new plush toy for you.
Author, illustrator and artist Jody Bergsma and the design team at Fiesta
Toys have created a new assortment of teddy bears, the enchantingly named
Fairy Bears.
The inspiration behind the lovable teddies is found in the book Sky
Castle, illustrated by Bergsma and written by Sandra Hanken. The
book features a wide array of colorful magical creatures, including the
adorable fairy bear. When Brian Chilton, CEO of Fiesta Toys, saw Bergsma’s
illustrations at Licensing Show in New York last summer, he was impressed
with the concept and proceeded to make arrangements for product licensing.
Fiesta Toys, a manufacturer of plush products since 1972, began development
of Bergsma’s designs last November.
Standing approximately 9.5 inches tall, each bear is clothed in original
and whimsical costumes and sports a pair of fairy wings. Each teddy also
has its own name, special collectible stone and inspirational message,
and is available in every color of the rainbow.
Emily Van Auken, Fiesta’s vice-president of sales and marketing, is confident
that the new item will be a bestseller for ages 4 to 94.
“Fairy Bears are unique in the gift marketplace with their signature
‘Bergsma’ eyes and keen attention to color and design detail,” says Van
Auken. “Each assortment in the Bergsma collection is separate in design
direction but provides fun, whimsy, education, beauty and positive messages
to both the giver and receiver of a Bergsma plush toy.”
Prices range from $10 to $15. The toys are available now at specialty
gift retailers throughout North America. For more information, go to fiestatoy.com.
