This CD was specifically designed to calm infants. It simultaneously plays three tracts of white noise blended with a digital wave pattern. White noise is a very powerful soothing element. It mimics the sounds of the womb (blood flowing through mom's body). Since a young baby's developing neurological system is not able to tune out surrounding stimuli, the baby often becomes overwhelmed by it. White noise helps shut out these agitating triggers. Its digital wave pattern provides a gentle, but rhythmic "melody" that lulls your baby into a composed state. Hush Baby combines stimuli blockage, comforting sounds and a rhythmic device. In effect, it captures your baby's attention, calms him and lulls him into a peaceful state.

Hush Baby is a personal creation born from one woman's challenge to comfort her own newborn who was suffering from colic. When Joan Dillon Petrillo, founder of Hush Baby Products, was told her 12 -day- old son Gianni had a severe case of colic, the baby's pediatrician and her OB-GYN both suggested that she look into white noise.

Petrillo, a sole practitioner attorney by trade, threw herself into researching colic and white noise. After weeks of research, Petrillo burned white noise CDs in a recording studio and later tested them on her son. Soon she found a combination of noise and patterns which mimic the in-utero environment and in which her son responded favorably to. Never thinking that she was starting a new business, Petrillo loaned a copy of her CD out to a neighbor who in turned loaned it to another. The CD changed hands and homes several times.
