TIA ANNOUNCES REVISED TOY FAIR™ CLOSING DATE AND SHOW HOURS
FOR 2003 EVENT

100TH
Anniversary Show to Run February 16-19
NEW YORK, June 7, 2002 - Toy Industry Association, Inc. (TIA™)
announced today the 2003 American International TOY FAIR dates will
be held February 16-19 (instead of February 16-20) at the Javits
Convention Center in New York City. Together with the change in
dates, the exhibit floor hours at Javits will be extended each day.
"The dramatically stepped-up pace of business in the electronic
age makes it especially difficult for buyers and exhibitors to be
away from the office, factory or store for an extended period of
time. By shortening the number of show days to four, and increasing
the daily show hours, we can provide the amount of face time that
the industry needs, and at the same time, enable show participants
to get back to their businesses a day earlier," said Toy Fair
Show Director Laura N. Greene.
Tom
Conley, President of TIA, said "Today, we see that the vast
majority of U.S. shows that serve retail industries run a maximum
of four days. Buyers definitely need to travel to trade shows to
see new product, but also need to conduct their business as efficiently
as possible and return to their day-to-day retail operations. As
we celebrate the 100th anniversary of American International TOY
FAIR, the changes we are making reflect this new reality."
