This collection of original lullabies and sleep-time songs features the relaxing voice of Arby DeCamp, lain in a bed of mellow acoustic guitars. The title track, "Sleep by Numbers," is a fun sing-a-long that features counting numbers backwards, which has been proven by sleep experts to be a useful sleep aid.
TDmonthly Review:
What Is It?
This CD is designed to help kids get to sleep. The collection features a number of original lullabies composed and performed by vocalist/guitarist Arby DeCamp. The title song, “Sleep By Numbers,” is a sing-along that encourages children to count backwards – which some experts claim to be a useful sleep aid.
What We Thought
The songs are soothing, with repetitive verses that help lull the listener into a state of relaxation. In addition to DeCamp, many of the tracks include choruses of backup kid singers, which add to the charm of the songs. “Slumberland” was an especially nice piece, but all of the lullabies should help children nod off into dreamworld.
Why They’ll Want It
Parents are always looking for ways to help their small children unwind before bed. Singing these songs, which are pretty and fun, but soothing, too, will help kids transition to a more relaxed state. “Sleep By Numbers” would be a great gift to give a new parent, or a great gift for parents to give themselves.
