Many
years after the original American Transformers television series
ended, a few old characters have reappeared in the form of new limited
addition Japanese Takara Transformers action figures. There are
many quite a few re-releases with new colors as well as brand new
figures. The Takara Transformers line is quickly becoming a welcome
item to toy collector's shelves.
Takara Transformers
PVC figures in clear and assorted colors have recently begun shipping.
The PVC set contains six different figures including: Optimus Prime,
Megatron, Ultra Magnus, God Ginrai, Arcee, and Starscream. Another
set released is "Build King". These action figures transform
from robots into construction equipment such as bulldozers and dump
trucks.
Right now, all
figures are imported from Japan, but there are South Korean versions,
with alternate packaging. The new toy line is expected to appear
back on American shores in the form of a new series. This series
will follow the "Transformers: Beast Wars" series that
recently aired in the U.S.
