Childhood obesity is an important issue in the United States, and throughout the world. Teaching children about proper nutrition is no easy task, and many of the available children’s nutrition books are inanimate references. They appeal to parents and teachers only, while our children, those to whom the information applies, are left bored and disinterested. In order to promote positive attitudes about food and healthy eating, a nutrition book for children must keep them engaged, and most importantly, allow them to have fun learning!

Health and nutrition advocate Jay Holt has created "The Adventures of Tommy the Tomato", a guide to healthy eating for kids. Jay has been a tireless crusader for healthy eating since earning a degree in nutrition from the University of Florida. Tommy the Tomato has a curriculum that meets the U.S. Education Standards for Physical Education and Health for grades K-4.

"Tommy the Tomato" is currently looking for investors for DVDs and other products and is open to Merchandising and Licensing opportunities.

About the Author
The Adventures of Tommy the Tomato is an alphabet book geared towards ages 4-9. It follows Tommy the Tomato through his days in school where he learns from his classmates as well as his teachers. When reading "The Adventures of Tommy the Tomato", children go on an educational adventure alongside Tommy the Tomato. Throughout the book, Tommy encounters other fruits and vegetables, all of whom explain how they are beneficial to Tommy, and in the same breath, to the child reading. As a result, the nutrition information stays with the child for life!

The Adventures of Tommy the Tomato has been on TV and radio, as well as on Rachael Ray's YUM-O site and the December issue of School Nutrition Magazine.

It was the first day of P.E. and the kids began to play basketball. Tommy the Tomato fell to the ground in pain, grabbing his leg. He had a cramp in his leg. Just then Barry the Banana walked up to him and asked him what was wrong. Tommy the Tomato told him he had a leg cramp. Barry the Banana gave him a banana to eat. He said, “Bananas have potassium and they take muscle cramps away.”
