Cargo Noir is a game of illicit trading in which players run "families" who traffic in smuggled goods. The game takes place in the setting of 1950's film noir. Game play in Cargo Noir revolves around a changing set of notorious smuggling ports – Hong Kong, Bombay, Rotterdam, Panama, Tangier, Rio, Cape Town, New York and Macao – that are filled with various types and quantities of contraband. Players dispatch cargo ships loaded with gold to the ports that hold cargo they desire – hoping that it will be enough to snatch the goods away from any opponents. The acquired goods are then stored in the player’s warehouses until enough is accumulated to create valuable combinations to trade away for Victory Spoils. "Game development focused on three areas: fine-tuning the balance so there were always multiple paths to victory; making sure the game shines with two players as well as with five; and finding a theme that would be evocative with a feel that is very different from most other auction or trading games," Serge Laget, game designer, told TDmonthly. Launch date: March 2011. THIS PRODUCT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE ToyDirectory Product ID#: 31461 (added 1/12/2011) .
This set of trivia cards comes with a classic trivia deck and three themed decks. Players select a "host" who must read the question listed on the card drawn, and the other players pass the deck around, sliding the card up to reveal the correct answer to the question. One player reads the real answer, while the others make up fictional answers, and the host must decide which player is telling the truth. Players can gain points by guessing correctly or by tricking other players into guessing incorrectly, and the player with the most points at the end of the game wins. In this expansion, players still attempt to complete their Destination Tickets, claim routes, and block each other on the map, but rather than draw and collect Train cards, they roll five custom Train dice each turn. Depending on the outcome they can re-roll some or all, then use the dice to claim routes on the board, grab route Tokens for future use, or draw more Destination Tickets. "The Ticket to Ride: Dice Expansion makes for a shorter but just as intense Ticket to Ride game. It can be incorporated into any of the Ticket to Ride series games, and revitalizes them with elements of luck and strategy," Elizabeth Case, marketing assistant at Days of Wonder, told TDmonthly. Depot placement and skillful Warehouse tactics become a key part of a winning Ticket to Ride strategy!" Elizabeth Case, marketing assistant for Days of Wonder, told TDmonthly. In Small World, players vie for conquest and control of a world that is simply too small to accommodate them all. Picking the right combination from the 14 different fantasy races and 20 unique special powers, players rush to expand their empires — often at the expense of weaker neighbors. Yet they must also know when to push their own over-extended civilization into decline and ride a new one to victory. "Designer Philip Keyaerts has expertly interwoven the fantasy worlds with competitive game play to create a game that appeals to casual players of all ages and experience while simultaneously maintaining a complexity that draws in the more serious crowd," Elizabeth Case, marketing assistant for Days of Wonder, told TDmonthly. The game has received the following awards: 2009 Bruno Faidutti's Game of the Year; 2009 Finalist for the International Gamer's Award; and 2009 Spiele Hit (Vienna Game Academy). Based on the Arthurian legend. Players take on the roles of Knights of the Round Table who work collaboratively to defeat the forces of evil trying to destroy Camelot. The twist is that there is the possibility that one of the players is a Traitor, working against everyone else! — “Shadows over Camelot really immerses people into the theme of playing a knight of the roundtable, so everything from the game play to the illustrations — even the way we've written the rules — makes people feel they're getting to play a knight off on quests to save Camelot,” said Days of Wonder vice president Mark Kaufmann. — The game debuted in 2005. “On launch it sold more copies than any of our previous games …and it continues to sell very well,” Kaufmann told TDmonthly. “We've been very happy with the performance of the game.” — “Shadows Over Camelot has done really well,” noted Eric of Gamescape in San Francisco.
