Our first edition of dolls and books launches with five characters that represent girls around the world - Wan Ling, Lulu, Zoe, Gia and Pita - who come to life through beautifully made 21-inch dolls, fun adventure books, and a whole range of interchangeable clothing and accessories. The 11-year-old girls represent a modern-day way of life in each country and culture, providing today's views of fashion, events, and values that shape each generation and raise global awareness along the way. Through the purchase of each Karito Kids starter package containing a doll and book combination , a percentage of sales will be donated to Plan USA, a worldwide children's charity. By entering a unique code (found on every product) on the company website, children will be able to select the charitable cause to which the donation will be directed.

The experience is about building a bridge of cross cultural understanding that all kids - no matter where they live or what color their skin - are fundamentally the same. And yet in many places around the globe, it is a struggle for children to get a meal each day, have a safe place to call home, or go to school in peace.

Through this powerful new doll and book combination a new generation has arrived - Generation "G". The "G" stands for giving.

Dolls: Each doll, standing at 21" tall is uniquely sized to emphasize the latest fashions and realistic body of an 11-year-old girl. They are high quality non-phthalate vinyl with 1/3 vinyl breastplate for fashion sensibility and 2/3 soft body torso to maintain the nurture nature of a doll.

Books: The books are written in a style that uniquely blends fiction and non-fiction, taking the character through an exciting adventure in her home country and giving the reader the opportunity to experience the story with its own unique combination of landscapes, cultures, celebrations and beliefs.

Accessories: Each doll comes with a complete high quality outfit. The dolls' clothing reflects what is worn in that particular country today, as opposed to traditional costumes displayed on most international dolls. Additional outfits will be available reflecting the notion that contemporary fashion is similar around the world.

Website: The concept of combining traditional play patterns with innovative interactive technologies is the driving force behind the website, karitokids.com, which empowers kids to help other kids while having fun themselves. Beginning with the first purchase, children will activate their donation by entering a unique code on the website and selecting one of four causes (growing up healthy, learning, habitat or livelihood) where they can make a difference in the lives of children around the world. Additionally, children will earn points by playing games on the website. These points called "World Change" will e converted into real donations that the kids can direct to their selected cause.
