The Elephant Chess Club has re-designed the traditional board games
xiangqi (Chinese chess) and shogi (Japanese chess). Now these games are
available to game enthusiasts around the world.
Chinese chess, also known as xiangqi, is the world’s most popular board game and has been played throughout East Asia for over 1000 years! The playing pieces have traditionally been identified using Chinese characters, so only those who could read Chinese characters were able to play. Now Chinese chess (this is not Chinese checkers) is available in a set in which the pieces are identified by symbols on one side and Chinese characters on the reverse side so that anyone can enjoy this challenging game of strategy. Each set comes complete with a diagrammed instruction manual.

Shogi is a chess variant which developed in Japan and has been largely limited to Japan because the traditional playing pieces were identified using Japanese writing. Shogi is unique from other chess variants in that captured pieces can be re-played, and that most pieces can undergo promotion. This game is now available in an international version in which pieces are identified using symbols, design and colors. The set comes complete with an illustrated instruction manual.
Set #210 Internationalized Shogi featuring plastic playing pieces and a wooden board/case.
