New York Puzzle Company was founded in 2007 by two college friends, Adam Silver and Sarah Dickinson, with a first puzzle based on the New York City subway map. The company now publishes jigsaw puzzles in a wide range of themes and piece counts, many with a witty, literary or nostalgic feel and art from independent illustrators. Its puzzles are printed, cut and boxed in the United States on recycled chipboard with a linen finish to cut glare, using soy-based inks. The company pledges a share of its sales to environmental nonprofits through 1% for the Planet. Alongside puzzles it offers mugs, playing cards and a puzzle subscription, and it sells to stores as well as direct. Visit the New York Puzzle Company website for current puzzles.
